This handcrafted necklace features the deep, rich tones of ancient bog oak paired with vibrant red cinnabar stones. The bog oak, with its textured square beads, carries centuries of natural history, while the smooth cinnabar stones add a bold touch of color and elegance. Strung on a minimalist red cord with a silver clasp, this piece offers a striking contrast between rustic and refined elements, making it a perfect statement accessory for those who appreciate unique, natural materials in their jewellery.
The pendant comes with a 1mm red leather cord with a stainless steel lobster clasp.

Cinnabar has long been prized not just for its striking red hue, but also for its deep symbolic meanings. In ancient Chinese culture, cinnabar was considered the "Stone of the Alchemists," representing transformation, wisdom, and spiritual growth. It was believed to aid in manifestation and personal power. Additionally, cinnabar has been associated with vitality, life force, and renewal, symbolizing the flow of energy and courage to overcome challenges. Many cultures also saw it as a stone of protection and healing, thought to enhance creativity and bring prosperity to its wearer.

-----------------------
Bog-wood is a material from trees that have been buried in peat bogs and preserved from decay by the acidic and anaerobic bog conditions, sometimes for hundreds or even thousands of years. The wood is usually stained brown by tannins dissolved in the acidic water. Irish bog-oak usually ranges in age from 3000 to 8000 years old. The Irish climate was warmer and drier at that time in our history and when the climate changed to a wetter and damper era the roots lost their grip in the soggy soil and fell to the ground. The centuries-long process of the oak residing in the earth results in colour alteration from golden-brown to completely black. No two pieces of wood will ever be exactly the same colour.

Like no two pieces of bog oak being the same, each piece of jewellery is handcrafted to be completely bespoke, giving it a rustic finish. Designed with care, each piece is lightly brushed with linseed oil to enhance the oak’s rich colour.
