The deep tonal variations of the oak, formed through centuries of mineral interaction, give the surface a near-black depth that shifts subtly in light. No artificial colouring is introduced; the material carries its own history.
Presented on a minimal black metal stand, the sculpture exists as a contemporary object while retaining its ancient origin bridging primitive material and modern form.

Irish bog oak is among the rarest natural materials used in contemporary sculpture. Formed when oak trees fall and are preserved in peat bogs under unique anaerobic conditions, the wood undergoes a transformation over thousands of years darkening, hardening, and absorbing the environment around it.
